The Things They Say!

This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. I'd not come across Cision before - apparently it's a "a global media intelligence provider". I've decided I'll start keeping an eye on their blog as it seems to have quite a lot to say about the music industry.

Well I've lost count how many times I've said to Mr Lance Liddle just how much I think his style and memory and delivery entertains the global media intelligent jazz users. I can spot a Liddle script many beats before I start reading. It always begins with the title and I just know a surprise connection will follow. It's not reportage but more creative odes to music itself and their wonderful creators. I love good writing with the capacity to evoke the gig experience in your mind. There is also a sense of a continuing storyline regarding local musicians, so we kind of 'grow' and move with the music and peoples' careers over time. It's a lovely small touch. This list simply does not surprise me in the least. He also happens to be a remarkably friendly and thoroughly sincere human being, I am blessed to have received his warmth. Sarah
