This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Modesty is not required in these circumstances!

I'd not come across Cision before - apparently it's a "a global media intelligence provider". I've decided I'll start keeping an eye on their blog as it seems to have quite a lot to say about the music industry.

Well I've lost count how many times I've said to Mr Lance Liddle just how much I think his style and memory and delivery entertains the global media intelligent jazz users. I can spot a Liddle script many beats before I start reading. It always begins with the title and I just know a surprise connection will follow. It's not reportage but more creative odes to music itself and their wonderful creators. I love good writing with the capacity to evoke the gig experience in your mind. There is also a sense of a continuing storyline regarding local musicians, so we kind of 'grow' and move with the music and peoples' careers over time. It's a lovely small touch. This list simply does not surprise me in the least. He also happens to be a remarkably friendly and thoroughly sincere human being, I am blessed to have received his warmth. Sarah
