The London Jazz Festival is but one week away with a host of mouth-watering events due to unfold across the capital. Something for everyone I guess. Although we are situated somewhat away from the action up here I know there will be several - myself included - making the trip. These days you can do it in under 3 hours and, with a bit of shopping around can usually pick up a bargain priced train ticket.

To launch the festival on Nov. 12, at the Barbican, Dougray Scott host's Jazz Voice: Celebrating a Century of Song. This features a host of vocalists including Jacqui Dankworth and Georgie Fame and an orchestra led by Guy Barker.
