This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. James Moody Battles Cancer

Hilary Gilby brought this sad news to my attention via this link. Let's convey our best wishes, thoughts and hope that he wins the battle.
James Moody is one of the last surviving jazz legends and he appeared in Newcastle several times captivating the audience with his sax and flute playing and his sense of humour. A great musician.

So sorry to hear about James Moody I was lucky enough to see him at a nice small gig at allandale when I was able to get his autograph. He said and I quote "To Eric with much spiritulistic love James Moddy (with artwork) by him. Im sure he is getting the best treatment and we can only pray he gets better. Regards Eric Stutt
