This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. The People's Crooner Final Tonight

The Alan Titchmarsh Show tonight stages the final of the People's Crooner Competition on ITV 1 at 5:00 pm.
The finalists include north-east 'swooner' Jason Isaacs and 3 others.
Unlike the heats, the final is a phone-in vote so be sure to pick up the phone.

Well it was pretty close but our boy Jason ran out the winner.
I say 'our boy' but I did also have strong affinity with the other two guys. Alex Stewart I saw at The Spice last year and I caught Atilla Hosein supporting Buddy Greco at Durham so I knew it would be tight and well done all of you.

Jason Isaacs will be performing as part of Robbie's Night at the Gala Theatre, Durham, Saturday April 24. Raising money for Meningitis UK and Robbie Jones a 3 year old little boy who lost both legs and his figertips through meningitis.
