This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Reviewers wanted

Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Press release: Shradhanjali – a homage to Zakir Hussain Saturday 4 July, Queen Elizabeth Hall

Talvin Singh presents an extraordinary evening of rhythm, improvisation, and global musical dialogue.

Shradhanjali honours the enduring legacy of the legendary tabla maestro Zakir Hussain - the pioneering force who, since the 1990s, brought together the world’s finest percussionists in a spirit of collaboration, virtuosity, and innovation, under the title Masters of Percussion.


This special concert, Shradhanjali, continues that tradition with a stellar lineup; Talvin Singh (tabla) is joined by special guests Marcus Gilmore (drums) and Tom Rogerson (piano) and Ananthan R Krishnan (mridangam), Satin Singh (multi-percussion).

A rare opportunity to witness master musicians in conversation, Shradhanjali is both a tribute and a living continuation of a revolutionary musical vision.

Talvin Singh said:
”My deepest gratitude to Asian Arts Agency for gracing me for this opportunity to pay a tribute to the most influential musicians of our world of music.

We are very much looking forward to bringing this personal homage to Ustad Zakir Hussian, Shradanjali, to London this summer at the Southbank Centre.”
