Bebop Spoken There

The Things They Say!

This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) North. (M & SSBB on F/book 23/12/24)

Reviewers wanted

Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Interested? then please get in touch. Contact details are on the blog. Look forward to hearing from you. Lance

Press Release: Celebrating Ten Years of Jazz London Radio

Jazz London Radio celebrates its tenth year, reaching fans from London to the world! We will celebrate this throughout the month of April and May with a series of special programmes by our Presenters.

Jazz London Radio began broadcasting in spring 2015 with the intention to offer something a bit different to the more conventional jazz radio stations, often found on the World Wide Web.

Jazz London Radio has achieved this through open ears and innovative shows. Each programme adding unique colour to the palette of jazz music.

Our weekly shows include: Big Band Jazz, Classic Jazz, Electronica, Female Instrumentalists & Vocalists, Jazz Rock, Jazz Funk, Latin Music, Originals v Covers, Rock and Blues, and World Showcase. Plus our annual three hour extravaganza of music for International Women’s Day.

Wonderful programmes contributed by Presenters past and present. Andrea Vicari, Chris Hodgkins, Filomena Campus, Johnny Mooney, Kevin Davy. Liv Fernandes, Richard Carabine, Todd Gordon, Jazz Rag Magazine Reviewers. Plus DJs Mickey Richards and Matthew Ballester.  Also, Deirdre Cartwright, Emily Saunders, Faye Patton, Jay Bennett , Julian Costello, Ollie Howell and Sophia Alexandra Hall.

In 2016 Jazz London Radio also introduced our successful JLR Interview Series: interviewing up & coming British artists, and top level international musicians. We have interviewed Harvey Mason, Courtney Pine, Najee, Camilla George, Juliana Hatfield among many others. For the full comprehensive list, click here.

Jazz London Radio was one of the first internet stations to output with a high bitrate of 256 kbps MP4 in 2015. Today we output in 256 kbps MP3 reinforcing our commitment to play high quality music in top sound quality.

We want to say many thanks for listening to Jazz London Radio, and helping to make Jazz London Radio a unique station. We hope to entertain you for years to come. To help celebrate ten years of Jazz London Radio, I have written an article called “What Is Jazz Today?”.  See article
