This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Preview: Tonight at the Prohibition Bar - Eva Fox and the Jazz Guys

If you're at a loose end tonight, don't despair, Eva Fox and the Jazz Guys are at the Prohibition Bar on the corner of Forth and Pink in the centre of Newcastle. 

Singer Fox turns up quite regularly at the iconic venue where the late King Crombie was once ruler of all he surveyed and the last time I heard Eva, back in April, I was impressed and I will be curtous to see if the upward spiral continues.

The Jazz Guys (Alan Law on piano, Paul Grainger , bass and Tim Johnston drums) are as good as you are likely to get in Newcastle on a Friday night so why not give it a go? Kicks off at 8:00pm and it's free although there is a jar on the bar for you to empty your wallet/purse in if you like what you're hearing and my guess is that you will. Lance
