This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Sax forte @ Connaught Court, York - Nov. 30

Liz Harris, our girl down south in York, sent me this programme by the Sax forte saxophone quartet. Liz reports that they played an excellent concert at Connaught Court where she currently resides.

Liz remarked on the choice selection of tunes that were brilliantly performed citing When Sunny Gets Blue as her particular favourite, along with Harlem Nocturne - and not a Christmas carol amongst them!

The quartet played a similar concert at the venue last year which was posted HERE. Paradoxically, that gig was in August and it included Corelli's Christmas Concerto!

these people are so modest and so talented. what they don't know about jazz ain't worth knowing...just like you Lance. As the Bard of Avon famously said " If music be the food of love, play on"
