Strolling along Skinnergate en route to Darlington New Orleans Jazz Club, a swift George Best-like body swerve avoided collision with a bunch of Morris dancers. Seconds later the distant sound of a guitarist shredding on a fusion blues called for a momentary diversion onto Houndgate.
Under a canopy on this sunny Saturday morning were three young musicians - guitar, bass and drums - working out on the aforementioned blues. Your BSH correspondent made enquiries. All three are from the Darlington/Newton Aycliffe area, although currently studying at Leeds Conservatoire. They're known as the Ochre Trio, check 'em out. Russell
