This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Cheltenham Jazz Festival Update

Following the government’s announcement on Monday, we’re sad to let you know that next month’s Cheltenham Jazz Festival live concerts will no longer be taking place. 

We’re all now looking ahead to what will be a very special 25th Cheltenham Jazz Festival in 2022 and hope to be in a position to send you details soon!

Statement: 

 

The Government’s announcement on Monday that there will be a four-week delay to easing lockdown restrictions has meant Cheltenham Jazz Festival can no longer go ahead with its planned series of six ticketed jazz concerts in Cheltenham Town Hall over the weekend of 10 - 11 July. 

 

Cheltenham Music Festival, running from 2-11 July and including a Free Stage in Imperial Gardens will go ahead, having planned from the outset to accommodate a socially-distanced audience. The Festival team will continue working on plans with key stakeholders to deliver a safe Music Festival.   

 

Jazz Festival Head of Programming Dave Gaydon said: “We will not now be able to give our artists and audiences the experience we so badly wanted to deliver. Having talked to colleagues and partners, we have taken the difficult decision to cancel our IRL Jazz Festival 2021. We will be back more fired-up than ever for our 25th Cheltenham Jazz Festival in 2022.”
