The Things They Say!

This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Reviewers wanted

Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Archipelago + Faith Brackenbury. Live at Gosforth Civic Theatre. Echoes to the Sky Album Launch - June 25

Archipelago are rapidly making a name for themselves in contemporary circles, not just in the north east but nationwide. Their latest album, Echoes to the Sky, which received a rave review in the July issue of Jazzwise was launched last night at Gosforth Civic Theatre in a co-promotion between the theatre and the ever forward looking Jazz North East.

Circumstances decreed that I was unable to attend in person however, the album was reviewed by Steve H a couple of weeks back which I'm sure conveys the essence of what last night was all about.

It's a busy weekend for JNE. Tomorrow night (June 27) in another co-promotion, this time with the Jazz Co-op at The Globe they present the Noel Dennis Trio. Tickets for the actual in-house performance are almost all gone. However, there is always the online option (from £7.50)  here.  Lance
