Welcome to Rico's Popup Louis said our host. Rico Tomasso's Facebook live stream began a few minutes late for which he apologised. It was the usual technical issues associated with the medium. The time honoured solution...switch off then switch on again, problem sorted.
Rico's guest accompanist this evening was his old buddy Nils Solberg. And it was guitarist Nils who arranged the first number, Louisiana Fairy Tale. Sound balance good, rhythmic six-string accompaniment spot on, the duo up and running. Nils took a vocal on Somebody Loves Me as Rico pondered another slurp of the dangerously strong Old Crafty Hen from his local brewery, the legendary Fuller's (your reviewer supping the brewery's London Pride).
Rico switched to flugelhorn for what turned out to be a marvellous take on Wrap Your Troubles in Dreams (arr N. Solberg) with some inventive blowing in what is a less-than-ideal situation - ie Nils supplying the foundation from his remote location and Rico improvising on top of and in between the chords and, momentarily, forgetting the lyrics! It was almost time to go as the screen began to freeze. Them There Eyes took it out They'll be back tomorrow at seven. It's dress up Saturday so do make an effort.
