This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Reviewers wanted

Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Ushaw Jazz Festival - The Weekend in Pictures

Following on from the weekend's fantastic jazz festival at Ushaw College, I've created a photo album using pics from Malcolm Sinclair, Brian Ebbatson, Russell and myself and covering all 13 concerts.

Hopefully, this will serve as a memento of a weekend that was blessed by, not only glorious weather but jazz from across the board that, somehow, managed to please just about everyone.

Hats off to Paul Edis and his team - carve their names with pride. Their portraits should be hanging alongside the paintings of the past Presidents and former alumni, that adorn the walls - the same walls that also, for once a year only,  display Tony Eales' Jazz Alley collection of memorabilia.

The Saturday previous it was the Newcastle Jazz Festival held in the Tyne Brewery. This weekend it was the majestic splendour of Ushaw College.  Worlds apart architecturally but musically, they couldn't have been closer.
