Vintage Chart Toppers Episode 7

Here's the playlist of Colin Aitchison's latest RTHK radio show - Episode 7:

Ah! how many of us, of a certain age, cut their jazz teeth on that one? In later years bands used to take it up a tone each chorus. The smart Alecs did it in semi-tones!
Billie Holiday: God Bless the Child.
These days, every nightingale sings this one but none ever matched Billie's version.
Joe Loss/Chick Henderson: Begin the Beguine.
The late Frank Wappett wrote an excellent book on Henderson. Must dig it out and read again.
(Still prefer the Artie Shaw version)!

Great arrangement for the time. Always good to hear Bix.
