This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Lee Gibson

It's been a while since Lee Gibson's showed up in these parts. I recall a session with the Ray Chester Band in Brunswick Chapel and a gig at Darlington - I think these were about 10 years, maybe further back. The lady knocked me out then and CDs were purchased. Now, listening again to Linger Awhile - Lee Gibson Sings - , I recall those sessions and send a request to Santa Claus that she appears here once more (Tyneside) soon*. A songstress comparable with the very best.
Lee was great with the Ray Chester Band - imagine her with Strictly Smokin'?! An unlikely scenario but we can dream can't we?

* Santa didn't come through with the Merc last year so I doubt if he can cope with this, even greater, request but my fingers are crossed! I've even got my Mojo workin'!
