Bebop Spoken There

Gil Goldstein: "The first three days I was in Florida, I heard Jaco Pastorius play at a club in Fort Lauderdale, and then I heard Pat [Metheny] play in a class on jazz composition. My whole experience of the world changed in those three days." - (DownBeat, March 2020).

Vieux Carré Play the Blues When it Rains!

Hello, folks!
Here's a terrific photograph - you can see the rain sheeting down. It's all about what musicians sometimes have to endure for their art. Normally in those weather conditions the band wouldn't play. But as everyone else was ready for the official opening of the Spanish City Plaza including Alan Campbell MP, Tourism & Events Manager, Pete Warne, Malcolm Henderson and his team from North Tyneside Council AND the folks of Whitley Bay, there was no way we weren't going to play our part. My main concern was for bass guitar player, Bill Colledge, whose instrument and amplifier were plugged into the mains - I was really expecting him to go up in a 'blue flash' at any second - however, a few plastic bin-liners courtesy of NTC saved him from getting 'fried'. Another great event for the Vieux Carré Jazzmen - in spite of the weather.
