This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) CD Review Led Bib The People in Your Neighbourhood

A crowd funding campaign helped fund the making of Led Bib’s new release. The Mercury Prize nominated quintet have rewarded those who donated to the project with a recording embracing the familiar groove and newer chilled-out elements. Altoist Chris Williams’ own tune New Teles opens the album and it is the composer who sets the pace. 
Tight riffs are heard across the ten tracks - Giant Bean a brisk hike through a turbulent landscape, Pete Grogan’s energetic This Roofus to the restrained Recycling Saga to the fun-filled Plastic Lighthouse - with the harmonising horns of Grogan and Williams markers along the way. Mark Holub (Led Bib was his idea ten years ago) fuses featherweight cymbals (At the Ant Farm) with snapping snare work throughout the seventy plus minutes of the CD. Liran Donin’s commanding bass lines weld together the compositions, Toby McLaren’s retro electronic interventions subvert, the mischievous aural graffiti artist at work. Fans of Led Bib will be delighted with The People in Your Neighbourhood. The CD is released on Cuneiform (catalogue no. Rune 378) on April 21. 
The band’s UK tour begins on April 22 in Cornwall at St Ives Jazz Club and the official album launch takes in three nights at the Vortex, London. Visit www.ledbib.com.
