This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. RIP Berry Yaneza

It is with sadness, I have to announce, that Filipino trumpet player Berry Yaneza who spent many years at Ned Kelly's playing trumpet, with The Kowloon Honkers & The China Coast Jazzmen, has passed away, I'm sure quite a lot of you remember Berry, with his sweet trumpet playing and antics on stage, plus his amusing vocals on his Japanese and Korean songs. 
Berry came to Hong Kong in 1949, and told me that one of his greatest experiences in life was being invited to meet Louis Armstrong while playing a concert in Hong Kong in the 1950's. 
From all the  management, staff & musicians at Ned Kelly's Last Stand, our condolences to his family.
