This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. And I thought the weather at Scarborough was bad! Overture to the Lockerbie Jazz Festival.

Motored west, took the highway that's the best, get your kicks on Route A69!
It was wet and the further west I drove the wetter it got. Turned right at Carlisle and the rain became even rainier. Hurried past Gretna which looked more grey than green and eventually made it to Lockerbie.
Swam across the hotel car park happy to be sheltered before being engulfed in the warmth of the greeting and the room.
A sirloin steak about half the size of a bull's backside put me in a better frame of mind and I looked forward to tonight's Carol Kidd concert at the Town Hall.
Then the word got through.
The Town Hall roof was leaking and the concert moved to the Dryfesdale Hotel a couple of miles up the road. I've got my fingers crossed.
The other Town Hall concerts have been moved to the Lockerbie Academy.
Wherever, it still looks good musicwise.
