Bebop Spoken There

Walter Trout: "I don't know why John Mayall put up with me for so long. But I've been sober for 32 years now, not a beer nor a joint," - (Blues Matters! Aug/Sep 2020)

Teddy Wilson: "Mildred Bailey was a much better singer than Billie [Holiday]." - (DownBeat August, 2020)

The Things They Say!

Hudson Music: Lance's "Bebop Spoken Here" is one of the heaviest and most influential jazz blogs in the UK.

Rupert Burley (Dynamic Agency): "BSH just goes from strength to strength".

Tonight @ The Saville Exchange.

Tonight's concert sees the return of Dutch jazz violin virtuoso Tim Kliphuis, currently in the middle of a major European tour, backed by the popular Hot Club trio of local guitar wizard Keith Stephen (Keith & Roly Veitch (gtr), Bruce Rollo (bs), themselves fresh from their latest Scandinavian excursion). An intimate sound, perhaps, but possessed of passion, style and swing ... formidable evocations of those twin giants of French gypsy jazz, Stéphane Grappelli and Django Reinhardt - and more.
Box Office 0191 643 7093 as usual, or pay on the door. Also, a reminder that the Exchange Bistro is open for that pre-concert meal - two courses for £9.95 if ordered before 7.00pm. Reservations advised - phone (0191) 258 7866. Hope to see you there!
Mike Durham.
