This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Blue Note to open new club in London

Despite objections by the Metropolitan Police, Westminster Council have issued a licence for the owners of New York's legendary Blue Note Jazz Club to open a Blue Note Jazz Club in London.

The club will be situated in the 350-capacity basement of the St. Martin's Hotel in Covent Garden and is set to open in early 2026.

This is their first venue in London although they operate successful clubs in several other cities throughout the world.

It will be interesting to chart their progress and that of the other jazz clubs in and around London. Will it prove to be a general stimulus for the scene or will it merely stretch the existing audience?
