This evening's Prom at the Albert Hall presents the music of Sarah Vaughan - Sarah Vaughan: Tribute to a Legend at the Proms. Guy Barker conducts the BBC Concert Orchestra with a whole host of guest vocalists including Cherise, Lucy-Anne Daniels, Lizz Wright and Clarke Peters (as Billy Eckstine). Tickets are scarce and if you're unable to make it to London, the whole thing will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3 (7:30pm) and BBC Four (tv, 8:00pm).
Following Sassy, there is more, much more, all of it on BBC Four. Sarah Vaughan at the BBC (9:40pm), then at 11:00pm, a programme first broadcast way back in 1975, Jazz Ship. The SS Rotterdam (in 1975 the third biggest passenger liner in the world) set sail from New York to Nassau. On board were Lionel Hampton, Cannonball Adderley, Count Basie, Sarah Vaughan and Joe Williams! At five minutes to midnight, from 1980, it's Oscar Peterson; Words and Music. If you're still up and about at 12:40am, Show of the Week from 1965 presents Count Basie and then there's a 1973 edition of Parkinson at 1:25am featuring an interview with Duke Ellington. Russell

Loved the Duke interview. Wonderful to see the great man up close and personal and Parky with somebody who will have been one of his music heroes.
Embarrassing to have Craig Charles pretending he knew who any of these people were before he got the gig.
