This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. London Latin Leader Liddard to Launch Album at Hoochie on Thursday (Oct. 20)

Tenor saxist/keyboard/arranger Aaron Liddard, a prominent figure in the exciting London Latin jazz scene is to launch his new album - Nylon Man - at Hoochie Coochie, Newcastle's major nightspot, on Thursday October 20.  

The album, which includes some of the hottest Latin, jazz, fusion players on the London scene, features a who's who of the jazz and Cuban music scene in the form of: Yelfris Valdes trumpet (Buena Vista Social Club); Sid Gauld trumpet (Incognito); Raudelis Quiala Cisneros congas; Hammadi Valdes drums & percussion (Carlos Acosta); Javier Gincarte percussion; Paul Michael double bass; Andrew McKinney bass guitar (JTQ) and Elliott Henshaw drums.

Sounds like an evening not to be missed and, wait for it, it's free entry! Lance
