This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. A Birthday Sunday Service - July 11

Cecilia Löfberg is celebrating a birthday today. No better way to mark the occasion than with a 'house party' live stream featuring two of her favourite musicians, Adrian Cox and Sven Erik 'Svempa' Lundeqvist. Clarinetist and pianist have been playing a few gigs and festival dates together across Denmark and this Sunday afternoon session from across the border in Sweden comprised Erroll Garner and Jelly Roll Morton. What's more, today is Adrian's birthday. What's more, non-clarinetist Cecilia took up Adrian's clarinet to play Happy Birthday to him! Bravo!

Ninety plus online Sunday Service parishioners, a bunch of tunes, a couple of Facebook freeze-frame episodes, yer typical Sunday lunchtime fayre. Svempa's elegant - classically educated? - style served preacher Cox well. Equally at home playing Garner or Jelly Roll, one assumes Svempa is in demand across Scandinavia. It seems Adrian works only with the best. Wishing England well - is there something happening later today? - our man (and Svempa) signed-off with Fair and Square.  Russell
