Just received the sad news that Margaret Aitchison, widow of the late trumpet player Hughie Aitchison died yesterday (Sept. 29).
Margaret was well known on the northeast jazz scene for many years usually in the company of her husband and later, after Hughie's death, with one of her sons.
I found her to be a lovely person and we exchanged Xmas cards until recently.
We read about Covid-19 in the media but it's when it hits someone you know that you start to take it seriously.
May she Rest In Peace,
Lance

I miss my mother a lot it just kills me that she is not here any more it is going to take time. I will never get over this. My mother is now in a better place free from the bad persons that are in the street. I will do anything to keep her name in in my mind forever.
Barry.
Very sad to learn of Margaret's passing. I first met her with Hughie over 40 years ago. She had a lovely smile.
My condolences to Colin and Barry.
Rest in Peace Mother. Will remember you fondly.
Colin
The funeral is on 4th November 2020 at 14.15pm at Tynemouth I am inviting all the jazz persons that our mother knew to come along if they can.
