APPJAG winner Zoë goes to church

On Sunday (September 13) award-winning vocalist Zoë Gilby will entertain a socially distanced audience in the spacious grounds of St James' and St Basil's Church in Fenham, Newcastle. Zoë won her prestigious 'gong' at the 2019 All Party Parliamentary Jazz Appreciation Group's year end awards ceremony at the Holborn Pizza Express in London.

In common with all other musicians, Zoë's live gig opportunities dried up with the implementation of the coronavirus lockdown. Thanks to St James' and St Basil's efforts to stage outdoor performances, Zoë will play two sets, the first beginning at three o'clock, in the company of bassist Andy Champion (Andy is Zoë's 'other half') and guitarist Mark Williams. It is likely that Zoë will perform a selection from her latest album Living in Shadows (a recently released debut single - For the Day - should feature) alongside favourite numbers from an ever-growing pad.

Sunday's weather forecast looks promising (19° with little chance of rain at 3:00pm), admission is free (donations welcome) and soft drinks and wine will be available to purchase on the day. Please note: free tickets for Sunday's concert are available online (attendance limited to 60 people, tickets going fast!) at www.jamesbasilfenham.org.ukIt isn't every day an award-winning vocalist appears at a Newcastle suburban church (Fenham Hall Drive NE4 9EJ). So, do take the opportunity to hear Zoë, Andy and Mark in a tranquil setting on what looks like being a fine, early autumn afternoon.
