This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. New Jam in Billingham

This is a new jam nite, held every Wednesday at the pub, all music genres are welcome. PA provided, along with drums, bass amp, guitar amps and even bass, electric and electro-acoustic guitars are available.
I hope that I might be able to do a jazz specific night once a month, but any musician is welcome to any of the weekly events.  The landlord, Alan Bridges and his wife Janet are amicable hosts and whilst there is no money for performers, refreshments are on the cards!

A paid 'house' duo/trio to help student or inexperienced musicians hone their skills wouldn't cost a fortune, playing for nowt sets a bad precedent.
