This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Reviewers wanted

Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Tonite! DJM @ Prohibition Bar!

Cheshire-born, Paris resident, Daniel John Martin returns to the north tonight to play a few gigs with Mick Shoulder’s Swing Manouche. Arch 3, Brandling Street, Gateshead, is the place to be at eight o’clock. DJM will revel in Prohibition Bar’s 1920s decadence, discreetly tucked away just off the Tyne Bridge. Nearby parking is free after six o’clock, the Quaylink bus service arrives and departs outside the West Door at Sage Gateshead, a mere two minutes’ walk from Arch 3 and Gateshead Metro is a matter of five minutes, if that, from a night of swinging speakeasy Manouche jazz! Grappelli is your man? Make a point of getting along tonight, you won’t believe how good DJM is!
