Bebop Spoken There

Avishai Cohen (trumpet): "This is my main thing right now: Live in the here and now, take things one day at a time. I'm stopping everything I can, and stripping everything to the bone. I'm spending a lot of time listening to music, playing, going for walks, enjoying my kids." - (DownBeat June 2020).

Dave Rempis:Ten years from now, I can see musicians streaming concerts in real time and charging a minimal amount for people to watch.” - (DownBeat September 2013)

The Things They Say!

Hudson Music: Lance's "Bebop Spoken Here" is one of the heaviest and most influential jazz blogs in the UK.

Rupert Burley (Dynamic Agency): "BSH just goes from strength to strength".

Today

As we all know there are no live gigs taking place in the immediate future. However, any links to jazz streaming that are deemed suitable - i.e. with a professional approach - will be considered for posting.

Birtley at 21 - Let's 'Raes' a Glass

This Thursday (October 6) St Joseph’s, in Birtley, just off the main drag, will be having a party. Twenty-one candles on a Dixieland/New Orleans’ cake will burn brightly as Mac and Dave Rae, long-time supporters of Birtley Jazz Club, take to the stage with their New Orleans Quartet, together with special guest Don Fairley, to celebrate Birtley Jazz Club’s coming of age.
Through good times and bad times, Birtley Jazz Club’s resolute organisers present a first Thursday in the month jazz gig. Fads, fashions, a lack of public funding, nothing deters a club about to mark twenty-one years of jazz, jazz, jazz! Two sets, the first starting at half past eight, a mere three pounds admission, a raffle, a pint of Guinness, support your local jazz club. Many Happy Returns to Birtley Jazz Club!
