Bebop Spoken There

Lew Shaw (Syncopated Times' columnist): "My interest [at 95] is in classic jazz. The numbers aren't what they were 40 years ago, but I'm encouraged by the number of young musicians playing that style and the young audiences they attract." - (The Syncopated Times January 2021)

The Things They Say!

Hudson Music: Lance's "Bebop Spoken Here" is one of the heaviest and most influential jazz blogs in the UK.

Rupert Burley (Dynamic Agency): "BSH just goes from strength to strength".

Tonight @ The Globe (July 2)

Tonight at the Globe Jazz Bar, HQ of the Jazz Coop, sees top north-east guitarist Steve Glendinning teaming up with ace vibraphonist Chris Jelly. Both are members of the area's top funk band King Bee but, for tonight, they are returning to their jazz roots, with reverberations of Lionel Hampton, Gary Burton, George Benson, Pat Metheny. The band will be performing repertoire from the guitar/vibes legends, interesting takes on some of the standard jazz repertoire, as well as original compositions and the odd funker to get those feet tapping. As well as Steve and Chris, Mike Clarke is on bass and Mark Robertson is on drums. This is a no-brainer, where else could you be but The Globe (11 Railway St., Newcastle NE4 7AD) tonight?
Lance.
