A happy day indeed.
George is still working on a daily basis from his office /apartment on the Upper East side and only seems a little slower than he was 20 years ago.
He still enjoys fine wines, which I have long thought was the key to long life.
In fact many years ago in the Capital Jazz years George told me that he had visited his US doctor who had asked that inevitable question “How much do you drink?” to which George replied a bottle of GOOD wine every day “ That’s ridiculous” he was told – “you must cut down your intake.” Later in the month George was at his European house in Vence and arranged another doctor’s visit…And predictably the same question came up and the same answer was given “ Eh bien” said the Doctor “ C’est normal”. Moral of the anecdote – Get a second opinion from a FRENCH Doctor.
