Well what an afternoon that was! I have known John Addy
for years as indeed has anyone with a good ear for great jazz. He
apparently retired a month or two ago, but made a brief come-back
today for those people who enjoy live music at the Vicky Vaults.
John does Gasbook to perfection and, as I never
intended to review this gig, I didn't make notes...but they were all there .One Morning in May, It Might as Well be
Spring, I Thought About You, Mountain Greenery, Ain't That a Kick in the Head? it
just went on & on.
Special mention must be made of Steve Devine, what a
great and talented musician. I spoke to him afterwards as I knew he was a pro.
A modest man hailing from Bradford, he told me he had played all over the world
including cruises and for many big bands. He featured a number called Triste which was new to me, I was
entranced and sent a quick text to our webmaster who of course knew it and put
me right on the composer - Jobim. On the way home, listening to Gary Copley on
Radio Leeds/York on my car radio I was serenaded by Linda Ronstadt singing What’s New? with a Nelson Riddle arrangement.
It suited my mood, and made me think, for the millionth time, life is nothing
without music.Liz.

Thanks Liz - is this a regular Sunday gig?
not as such, the pub feature many different types of live music. John was a one off, but Carol his wife plays fortnightly , she is a good singer, and is backed by her own musicians
