There seems to be some confusion at present regarding the
Pink Lane Jazz Co-op and the Jazz Café in
I’ve been asked to point out that these are two separate organisations
and the slight connection is tenuous to say the least.
Basically the Pink Lane Jazz Co-op is planning on buying,
through a share issue, the Globe Pub in Railway St
The Jazz Café, a long established jazz haunt recently
refurbished following the death of the previous incumbent Keith Crombie, will
continue to promote jazz events in the Pink Lane Railway St
The Pink Lane Jazz Co-op are at present running monthly Friday night sessions at the Jazz Café.
The Jazz Café has been chosen as the Late Night Club for
this year’s GIJF and the upstairs venue will be ready for the sessions which
start on Friday (April 4) with the Alan Law Trio A.K.A. ALT
Prospective investors in the share issue are advised to
contact the Pink Lane Jazz Co-op and not the Jazz Café in Pink Lane
So now you know and may clarity prevail.
Oh yes - Sage Gateshead also has a Jazz Café session on the concourse tonight (March 28) featuring Anth Purdy in a solo guitar recital... Nothing to do with the other two!
