This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) The Coleman Hawkins was 1967 - I was there in the middle of the front row, aged 14! Still got my ticket somewhere, too.

By a process of elimination the Armstrong concert would be the first tour in 1956. The second tour was Feb.- March 1959 and the third April - May 1962. There is no date on my fist tour programme but the price is about right as I remember paying £1 5s for a ticket at the City Hall.
