Lance, I'm intrigued, what are copy keys? Ann Alex
Copy keys, Ann, are the key in which the song was originally written and how it appeared in the sheet music.
As such this is the key, because of familiarity, most musicians are most comfortable playing in.
However, because of the pitch and variation in the vocal range singers frequently need to sing it in a lower or a higher key which can make it difficult for an accompanist playing in an unfamiliar key.
Lance, Thank you, you certainly get educated on this blog!
Ann
