This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. In Toon Tonight

Three major happenings in Newcastle tonight. 
Nick Pride and the Pimptones are at Hoochie Coochie, 54 Pilgrim St.. 8:00pm start Admission Free.

The regular Sunday Jam Session at the Jazz Café, Pink Lane - start time indeterminate - Admission Free.

Over at the Bridge Hotel, Castle Garth, Jazz North East's On The Outside and Splinter co-promote The Thing - a Scandinavian trio. 8:00pm. The music may be free but admission for this international group is £10 (£8 concessions).

I'm hoping to catch 2 out of 3.

Late News!: Just heard that the Zoe Gilby Quartet have pulled out of their Hoochie Coochie gig on October 20. They will be replaced by dynamic jazz/rock trio Legohead.
