The photo belonged to Angela's mother Mavis Gregson who was a big fan of the bands who visited and played in the various clubs and dance halls in and around the Manchester area.
The ones who escaped Mavis' Biro were saxmen Pete King and Benny Green, pianist Norman Stenfalt, drummer Tony Crombie and, of course, the leader himself who was probably on the phone to his bookie.
Thanks again Angela, your mother must have been very special, she should have written a book, Lance
