This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Facing the music

An item under the above heading appeared in today's i Paper  whereby YouGov posed the question, Do you like or dislike jazz?, to 5,302 GB adults and received the following response:

Neither like or dislike - 41%. Like - 22%. Dislike - 19%. Hate - 9%. Love - 6%. Don't know - 2%.

It would perhaps have been of further interest if the participants had been asked to define what they consider to be jazz. Lance

So the 18-24 age group love/like jazz significantly more than the older groups! Bodes well for the future I suppose, but in my experience the "young jazzers" are only/mostly in London?!
