This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Preview: Paul Skerritt is coming to town.

Xmas is coming and with it all the festivities that surround it. Needless to say the local jazz community join in the fun and none more so than the north east's top swing singer Paul Skerritt. You may have heard Paul with backing tapes or with a trio or a quartet but, to get the whole experience, hearing him with the Danny Miller Big Band is something else!

Miller is to Skerritt what Nelson Riddle was to Sinatra as audiences at the Westovian Theatre, South Shields discovered last year - LINK.

This year they return on December 2 with a seasonally themed show for which tickets are going well. Today's Shields Gazette has a preview of the show HERE. Sounds like a fine way to get in the mood for a great concert. Lance
