This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Jazz on the Tyne – requests in memory of Dave Weisser

In tribute to Dave Weisser, who died recently, I’m planning a special edition of Jazz on the Tyne later in August.  I’d be delighted to receive your requests for tracks - dedicated to Dave - that I would play on the podcast.  You can contact me by emailing jazz.tyne.hive@gmail.com or via www.jazzonthetyne.org.

I would also like to include your recollections of Dave in the programme.  Please let me know if you wish to contribute.  I’d be happy to record your memories (e.g. on the margins of the Newcastle Jazz Festival); alternatively, if you would prefer to send me your recollections by email, that would be fine.

Colin, I have a fair few recordings of Dave which I've been uploading to a YouTube playlist but can forward to you on MP3. And we'll have a memory tree tomorrow at the Globe which might help people to remember stories. Jude x
