This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Lee Gibson - Where are you?

Listening to a couple of albums by that great British singer Lee Gibson (where is she now?) brought to mind a tremendous gig she did at Darlington Arts Centre on Feb. 18, 2005 with Alan Barnes, John Horler, Arnie Somoygi and Bobby Worth.

I had to ask Peter Bevan to refresh my memory as to the exact date and personnel which he promptly did. Thank you.

Peter also scanned me a flyer of the jazz nights at the Arts Centre over that period and it's pretty impressive (see graphics).

Ms. Gibson also impressed, around that time in a concert with the Ray Chester Big Band at Brunswick Methodist Church in Newcastle.
