This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Reviewers wanted

Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Knats cancel Hoochie gig!

The "Grand Finale" of Knats' monthly residency at Hoochie Coochie due to take place this Thursday has, I'm sad to report, been cancelled and as such means that we may never hear their like  again as they go their separate ways to the more southerly halls of higher (musical) education.

The event, which was to have featured Knats and two other bands (see poster) was cancelled at short notice due to "unforeseen circumstances" reported on Facebook as "devastating news".

Perhaps someone may turn up at tonight's jam session at the Black Swan and offer further information. In the meantime we will remember them as one of the most exciting and original bands of recent years - Lance
