Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Hexagonal - The Temple of Juno

Greg Heath (tenor sax/flute/comp./arr,); Jason Yarde (alto sax); Graeme Flowers (flugelhorn); John Donaldson (piano); Simon Thorpe (bass); Tristan Banks (drums).

Further to my previous post I had to check out The Temple of Juno commissioned by Jazz South and brought to my attention by Simon Thorpe.

It's a cracking example of contemporary post hard bop composed by Heath and featuring his powerhouse tenor alongside his equally forceful frontliners Yarde and Flowers. However, whilst Heath provided the bricks and mortar all six apply their skills to build a solid structure.

When the vaccine kicks in and we all get back to the new normality I want to see this band at Sage Gateshead.
