This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Jazz Quest Radio "What Laurie [Pepper] Likes"

Listen to recordings of Art Pepper along with studio guests, Art's widow, Laurie Pepper and Belgium archivist Rocco Bertels. It's compelling listening. Both the talking and the music is great. Art's my all-time favourite alto player - maybe even my favourite jazz musician ever and it's a thrill for me to hear Laurie talking about the background to many of Art's recordings. 
Don't let the opening station identification put you off - the action begins with the classic Art Pepper Quartet recording from the 1950s of Bésame Mucho. As it happens, this was the track that first turned me on to Art Pepper (thank you, Charlie Carmichael).
Live extended versions of What Laurie Likes; Cherokee; Historia de un Amor and a studio version of I'm Getting Sentimental Over You follow. Sentimental also has Bob Cooper, Bill Watrous, Pete Jolly, Monty Budwig and Shelly Manne alongside Art making this a truly all-star West Coast line-up.
