Bebop Spoken There

Dave Puddy: "Eventually we paid our entrance money [to Eel Pie Island] and fought our way to one of the many bars where we could buy our Newcastle Brown and retire to the back of the heaving dancefloor. There must have been lights somewhere, but my memory remains of being in some dark cavernous wonderland." - (Just Jazz July 2020)

Dave Rempis:Ten years from now, I can see musicians streaming concerts in real time and charging a minimal amount for people to watch.” - (DownBeat September 2013)

The Things They Say!

Hudson Music: Lance's "Bebop Spoken Here" is one of the heaviest and most influential jazz blogs in the UK.

Rupert Burley (Dynamic Agency): "BSH just goes from strength to strength".

Today

As we all know there are no live gigs taking place in the immediate future. However, any links to jazz streaming that are deemed suitable - i.e. with a professional approach - will be considered for posting.

Jazz in Amsterdam Part 3 (of 3). November 25

Café Alto.
This is a very narrow and long bar with a tiny stage at one end,but is the perfect place that jazz lovers like to be. A typical jazz club setting but with free entry.
The night we were there an un-named quartet were on, hard hitting tenor sax. player, guitarist, electric bass, and drums, who all just managed to get onto the stage and played a lot of pleasurable mainstream jazz, mostly popular/standards pieces .
We left at 1am and I'm sure they had a few more sets to play that night.Again the band were good musicians and we were reluctant to leave it was so good, but we were going home the next day so could not stay till the end.Would go again without question if I could, especially to see Candy Duffler and her father who both play there on occasions I am told.
Conclusion: If you are in Amsterdam and interested in Jazz/World music it's a good place to be!!
