This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Voice of the North Jazz Orchestra - Splinter @ The Bridge Sunday July 4 Latest

Just to let everyone know that they will need to come early and buy drinks in the downstairs bar before coming up to the 'Splinter' arena. Also, it might be advantageous to bring along a pair of sunglasses for the first hour as there are no curtains to block out the evening sun and please wear something 'COOL' as it will get a tad hot!
In order to accommodate the band we are stripping the room of the stage and tables, however chairs will be provided.
Doors open as usual at 7.30pm and live music starts at 8.00pm.
£8 admission for this extra special event.
May we also say a heartfelt thank you to all the musicians and supporters for making this first season of 'Splinter a resounding success.
