Thanks Liz, I totally agree with yourself and Gerry Stonestreet. The BBC has, gradually over the past few years, got rid of quality popular music. Apart from Malcolm Laycock's show I think we all miss Russell Davies' Sunday afternoon program to mention but one.
Likewise TV - very little jazz or QPM is ever shown on BBC mainstream channels.
I think Laycock's show is now finished. Quite an acrimonious departure with Laycock complaining about pressure to change the direction of his music choice.
They're all paranoid about losing their audience ratings. Music catering for the masses is all that matters.

How would Radio 3 listeners take it if the BBC didn't play any pre-Stockhausen music?
Thank goodness for live music - how was Boston Spa, Roly?
Boston Spa was good thanks Lance.
Very enjoyable.
I think I'll stick a CD on and have a nice listen to some Bix turned up extra loud to convert the neighbours to jazz.
Roly
Roly - if YOU haven't converted your neighbours to jazz by now I don't think Bix will manage it!
True. The lad next door plays endless rap music and thinks Bix is a chocolate digestive. But I have to listen to his stuff wafting out of the bedroom window so he can have a good dose of Ostrich Walk.
