This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. It's Oscar Peterson Night on BBC4 (Sunday)

On BBC4 tomorrow night (Sunday), in the centenary year of his birth (b.15.8.1925), it's Oscar Peterson Night. 

Starting at 8:00pm, Oscar Peterson: Words and Music features OP in conversation (and performance) with Ella Fitzgerald. 

At 8:50pm, In Concert: Oscar Peterson features the Oscar Peterson Trio from Ronnie Scott's (1974), followed at 9:20pm by Omnibus: Oscar Peterson and André Previn (also from 1974) and at 10:25pm there is another episode of Oscar Peterson: Words and Music, featuring Count Basie, Joe Pass, Niels Henning-Ørsted Pedersen and Martin Drew!
