Alexia Gardner is
the new name on the region's jazz scene. Two or three performances (with more
scheduled for 2025) have won Ms Gardner a legion of new fans. The Globe
attracted a host of familiar faces and a fair number of new faces, there to
listen to the Alexia Gardner Quintet.

A bossa (One
Note Samba), a blues (Mo Better Blues, not really a blues but...),
jazz (My Favorite Things) and a subtle streak of reggae at the heart of
the night, Alexia Gardner worked and wowed her audience. The band...Harry
Keeble playing yet more first rate tenor sax, Alan Law playing, well, 'Alan
Law', great stuff as always. And then there was Jude Murphy, increasingly busy
on the local scene, taking care of business with bass duties and occasional
backing vocals, and, last, but by no means least, the class act that is drummer
Abbie Finn.
Alexia Gardner
possesses an enviable vocal range, allied to an engaging stage presence. As and
when Ms Gardner makes another appearance in the region - or further afield, for
that matter - make the effort to get along, you won't be disappointed. Russell
