Sam Leak Trio: Lockdown Livestream from Ronnie Scott's - May 10

Many years ago, I visited the Lido, a very swish Parisian night club/cabaret. One of the acts was a guy balancing spinning plates on poles. He was running from pole to pole to ensure that he kept all his plates spinning. The next act featured the leggy chorus girls and I forgot about the plate-spinner... 

Until lockdown that is when I suddenly found myself in the role of, metaphorically speaking, keeping the plates turning. For plates read livestreams ...

There are so many streams these days that rivers such as the Tyne, Wear and Tees are mere rills and brooks by comparison with their online counterparts making it nigh impossible to give adequate coverage to them all. Tonight's gig sounded excellent as I rushed around balancing the poles and plates (yes your email will get answered - if it doesn't then you shouldn't have sent it in the first place!) impressive playing all-round.

Contemporary takes on folky tunes - Dylan, Mitchell etc - that shed a new light on them and, to be honest, some of Dylan's music is better without the voice even if it does mean you lose the meaning of the song. As the old saying goes (or have I just made it up?) If the music is good enough you don't need the words and if the words are good enough you don't need the music!

The important thing is that it was live even if the living, other than the band and the technos, weren't actually present.
